What is Yoga Therapy

Yoga Philosophy & The Importance Of Yogic Living

Yoga is not something we just do on our mats. Yoga is more about what we learn about ourselves while on our mats and the expanding consciousness we carry in our day to day lives. Yoga is not so much an exercise as it is a way of life.

Yoga is a reconciliation of the physical and non-physical; matter and energy. From the yogic perspective, all physical ailments and disease begin as energy (emotions) and if not addressed those emotions will manifest in the physical wreaking havoc in our bodies.

When we address our issues at the energetic level, we can negate sickness and havoc in our physical bodies and/or physical environments.

While Yoga has been around for thousands of years, Yoga Therapy is a relatively new method of healing born out of this ancient practice.

Is Yoga Therapy right for me?

Sometimes talking is not enough. If you are looking for a more dynamic way to heal either physical and/or emotional holdings in your body or if you feel you are not fully living aligned to your soul mission, yoga therapy can help.

One of the areas that are of most interest to people right now is using yoga techniques for mental health conditions. Afterall, where the mind goes, energy flows. If we don’t have the mind under control, our lives will feel out of control.

In Yoga Therapy, we use concepts that lead us to identify key factors that are causing imbalances in one’s mental system and we train people to do practices that will diminish them and maybe eventually eliminate them.

Yoga Therapy has been shown to alleviate an array of conditions many people suffer home such as (but not limited to):

Why Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is a different approach to mental and physical health that comes from the belief that you are whole. We use the body, breath, mind and spirit as effective ways to bring you back into balance, access your innate body intelligence, and grow the seeds of wisdom and healing that are buried deep within you.

what will i experience?

Jai uses a healing blend of Compassionate Inquiry as taught by Gabor Mate and Kundalini Yoga to access, address, and release trauma held inside the physical body.

Each session you are held in a safe space to go inward and address what is not readily available to the conscious mind. When we can access our unconscious holdings, we can change pattern behavior, expand limiting belief systems, heal our pains and turn disease back to ease. Yoga Therapy with Jai is a self-empowering process where a personalized and evolving yoga practice is tailored to meet your unique needs. You will come to know healing as a multi-dimensional process as you awaken the healer within you.

Yoga therapy is easily integrated with other healing modalities; used in conjunction with western medical practices, and/or practiced as a stand-alone therapy. It is a creative, compassionate, mindful, holistic and embodied approach to healing.

What is the difference between a yoga class and yoga therapy?

A yoga teacher helps support general health and well being, by guiding students through classes and sequences.

A Yoga Therapist has been trained to work with the system of yoga to treat specific conditions. Your Yoga Therapist should have an informed knowledge base of the physical and non-physical bodies, how to balance these bodies, and how they inform your overall health and well-being.

Yoga therapy can be applied alongside the western medical model, or as a stand-alone therapy, depending on the condition and/or the skill and experience of the Yoga Therapist.

What can I expect in a yoga therapy session?

Typically, your first session will begin with a thorough intake in order to get to know you and your concerns. It will involve more talking than subsequent sessions as your therapist gains a broader understanding of your unique body and energetic holdings. Proceeding sessions can involve more movement and meditation if that is what is needed.

Once a course of action has been decided on, Jai will begin the process of teaching you practices to help with your specific condition.

Usually, you will be given practices to work on and will have follow-up appointments to make sure things are improving for you. New practices or adjustments to a practice will be suggested as your condition changes and improves.
The synergistic effects of these modalities allow pent up energy to release, the subconscious to cleanse, and paves the way for healing and renewal.
